GRIFFITH — Sounds of Sarah, a Lake County-based nonprofit that provides critical overdose prevention awareness and resources, has been awarded a $1 million grant from Indiana’s Mobile Crisis Accelerator Program to enhance crisis response services in the area.
The funding will enable the organization to launch an around-the-clock Mobile Crisis Unit aimed at addressing mental health and substance use crises directly within the community, meeting people where they are to provide them with the services they need.
The initiative will pair licensed clinicians with trained peer support specialists to offer immediate assistance and connect individuals to necessary resources. Services will be accessible through a crisis "warmline" and a new Crisis Care Connection mobile app, allowi
