OWENSBORO, Ken. (WFIE) - New tonight from Owensboro, Kentucky Transportation officials spoke on the construction on the Blue Bridge.

That major road between Indiana and Kentucky has been closed for over a month now while crews work.

Officials say they are making progress on laying down a new deck.

They say this is necessary maintenance for both sides of the Ohio River.

Officials says construction is set to last 90 days, but work is moving along quickly, so there’s a possibility they could finish sooner than planned.

Transportation officials say it’s vital to get the bridge back open as soon as possible.

Officials say construction should be wrapped up sometime in October.
