PORTLAND, Ore. — A 13-year-old was taken into custody after leading police on a chase on Interstate 84.

At 3:15 a.m. Sunday, on Interstate 84 near Exit 16, a deputy attempted to stop a driver that they believed to be driving under the influence, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.

The driver then sped off, and police had to spike their tires and perform a PIT maneuver on the car, which had five other teenagers inside.

No one was injured, police said, and no patrol cars were damaged in the pursuit.

The 13-year-old driver was taken into custody for eluding a police officer and reckless driving, along with five counts of reckless endangering. He was later released to his grandmother.

Two of the teenage passengers were reported runaways, according to police.
