SCHENECTADY— is seeking to bring its equalization rate up to date, with the city weighing its first citywide rate assessment in 16 years. The proposal would come at a cost however, with an estimated price tag of $2 million for a multi-year assessment from an outside consultant.
The last citywide evaluation took place from 2007 to 2009, resulting in a 100% equalization rate, meaning that after the process in 2009, the city was assessing properties in the city at 100% of their market value.
