BELTON, Texas (KWTX) - 628. That’s how many animals have been euthanized at the Bell County Animal Shelter this year.
Animal advocates across the county rallied outside the courthouse on Aug. 20 in support for more resources for protecting strays that end up in the shelter.
This came before they took these concerns to the County Commissioners Court meeting.
“Too many dying, stop the lying!,” that’s what animal advocates were chanting outside of the courthouse to bring attention to others about what is happening inside the shelter.
Advocates are demanding a future where more shelter animals live.
“Not to have 628 animals euthanized just from January to date,” Frances Fischer, the co-founder of Journey Home Rescue, says.
