ANNISTON, Ala. —

Anniston residents are preparing for the upcoming mayoral election, and one issue they'd like to see addressed by city leadership is blight.

Christopher Carr, a lifelong resident of Anniston, expressed his desire for the city to succeed and emphasized the need for change from the next mayor. "One thing that you see is a lot of poverty. Homes that are abandoned, even so far as, places, just not, well, taking care of trash everywhere," Carr said.

Kevin Cheatwood, one of the candidates, highlighted his experience in addressing blight, stating, "I am not just talking about fixing blight, I have done it.
