GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - A Greenville woman wanted after her 6-year-old son was found dead in a Greenville motel room in November has been arrested.

Philadelphia police tell WITN 25-year-old Saunsiree Jefferson was arrested there, but did not have any other details, other than to say she was taken into custody.

Greenville police have been looking for her since last yea r after being called to a report of a suspicious death at the Knights Inn at 3435 S. Memorial Drive.

When police got to the inn, they found the boy dead in a motel room where the family had been living in unsanitary conditions.

Police say an autopsy revealed that the boy was suffering from leukemia. Investigators believe the illness had been ongoing, and the parents’ failure to get medical care played a significant rol
