The city of Bellevue issued a water boil advisory Wednesday afternoon.
The advisory warns of potential contamination in the city’s drinking water lines and states that residents and businesses must use boiled or bottled water until further notice to cook, brush their teeth or wash their food in addition to using boiled or bottled water for drinking.
“During the replacement of a fire hydrant today at 6th [Street] and Birch [Street], we experienced an unexpected water valve break, causing the water pressure in parts of our system to drop below 20 PSI,” the city stated in a Facebook post at about 4 p.m. “When the pressure drops to that level, there is a risk of contaminants entering the drinking water system.”
The Facebook post states that it’s safe to shower or bathe in household water,
