ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Troy man was sentenced for breaking into an elderly woman's Watervliet home. Darrell Carson, 46, was sentenced to five years in prison and five years probation.
Carson pleaded guilty to attempted burglary after officials said he broke into the Fourth Avenue home of an 80-year-old woman and stole more than $5,000 worth of jewelry, alcohol, fur coats, cash and bonds. Carson's DNA linked him to the crime.
He also pleaded guilty to robbery in a separate case out of Troy that happened days before the Watervliet burglary. In that case he was sentenced to two to four years in prison to run concurrent to the Watervliet case.
