BELTON, Texas — Animal advocates are once again voicing their concerns over funding for Bell County's animal control services, citing an under-resourced shelter system and a growing number of euthanizations as the reasons that changes need to be made soon.
628 animals have been euthanized at the Bell County Animal Shelter since the beginning of the year, sparking local animal advocates to demand change from the Bell County commissioners.
"We are already nearing 1,000 animals lost this year," advocate Heather Hunt said. "This is not ethical euthanasia, it's extermination at this point. So I ask again, how many animals have to die before this becomes a priority?"
