MUNFORD, Tenn. - An FBI investigation was underway Wednesday morning after authorities traced a social media post threatening a Mid-South school, police said.
The investigation placed Munford Middle School on a brief lockdown.
According to the Munford Police Department (MPD), the FBI intercepted a Snapchat post that was geo-located to the parking lot of Munford High School. Investigators found that a seventh grader at Munford Middle School reported the post, claiming it came from a Crestview Middle School student in Covington, police said.
Police said Homeland Security was helping track down the original poster.
MPD said there was no active threat to Munford schools.
The lockdown at Munford Middle School was lifted around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said.
