SHELL ROCK TOWNSHIP, Minn. - Four people were hurt, two seriously, when an SUV and a semi crashed in Freeborn County.

It happened just after 1:30 pm Wednesday on Highway 65. The Minnesota State Patrol says a 2007 Ford Explorer driven by Perla Janeth Garcia Renteria, 33 of Albert Lea, and a 2012 Freightliner Cascadia semi driven by Mark Eugene Byers, 74 of Austin, were both heading north when they collided near the intersection with 110th Street.

The crash left Perla Renteria and a passenger, Jazmyn Marie Rodriguez, 19 of Albert Lea, with non-life threatening injuries and two other passengers, a four-year-old boy and Sanjuana Renteria, 53 of Albert Lea, suffered what are described as life theatening injuries.

Byers was not hurt.
