APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) - On Wednesday, we got a look inside Sandy Slope Elementary School in Appleton, one of several schools benefiting from a referendum passed by voters back in 2022.

A total of 12 schools participated in the open house event.

Community members, families, staff, and students were invited to stop in, explore the facilities, and connect with school leaders ahead of the 2025-2026 school year.

The project was made possible by a 2022 referendum that provided the district $129.8 million to add, expand, renovate, and modernize schools.

“We’re all excited, this is our community event, this is our first time we’re actually able to get the public into Sandy Slope,” says Joe Bernhardt, the Sandy Slope Elementary principal.
