OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - When a large construction trailer was stolen from a Northwest Omaha parking lot, the chances of finding it seemed pretty slim.

But a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Deputy decided to look for a needle in a haystack.

Near 156th and Maple Streets, it’s not just a trailer but a business on wheels that supports Efren Olague and 10 employees who install metal siding and roofs.

”When I’m walking outside, I’m like where’s my trailer? Because I parked it in front of my apartment," Olague said.

Without a locked hitch, thieves stole the trailer. So Deputy Schuyler Murray took a theft report from Olague, who didn’t have insurance to cover the loss.

“With all my tools, it’s like around $30,000,” Olague said.
