SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

The city of Elk Grove is launching its planning effort for a permanent, year-round homeless shelter with the first of three community meetings designed to shape the project’s vision.

The in-person kickoff will introduce the concept and invite residents to share ideas on what a compassionate, community-centered shelter should look like, including input on services, program design, and how the facility can reflect Elk Grove’s values.

City officials emphasize that this meeting will not determine the shelter’s location.

Feedback on potential sites will be gathered later this fall.
