Demolition is set to begin on parts of Toyota Field soon, as the City of Madison is renovating a building to comply with updated Major League Baseball (MLB) standards and expand the park.

The City of Madison was tasked with renovating the field to ensure there is space for female umpires and coaches, a new requirement for minor league teams with the MLB. It has to be completed by the start of the 2026 season.

City leaders took the opportunity to review plans for larger renovations.

City council members reviewed three plans. At first, many supported the most ambitious plan, which would build the new locker room and add three stories of event space to generate revenue.
