(WENY) -- With schools and colleges across New York heading back into session, the Firefighters Association of the State of New York (FASNY) is reminding students and families to make fire safety a priority both on and off campus.
According to the National Fire Protection Association, more than half of dorm fires happen between 4 p.m. and midnight, often caused by unattended equipment. FASNY also points out that four out of five campus-related fire deaths occur in off-campus housing.
