HUNTINGTON — Marshall University football has shifted its focus to preparation for No. 5 Georgia as the first practices with classes underway began this week.

“We’ve moved on to Georgia,” Marshall coach Tony Gibson said. “That’s the next phase. We’ve done a lot of scout team work today. We’ll continue that through the week and have a mock game Friday. We’ll repeat that next week. We’ve moved on, and it’s time to go.”

Gibson pointed out in fall camp that the unfettered access to players in fall camp is the purest form of progression that can be found -– no limits on time and no classes. Now, priorities shift.

The morning practice routine will continue, and Gibson said he finds it can help bridge the gap.
