BEREA — The Browns may have dodged a major injury bullet to a key defensive player.
Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward, who left practice Aug. 19 with an apparent shoulder injury , is "doing well," according to coach Kevin Stefanski. Stefanski said Aug. 20 there was "no update," however, for the injury itself.
Ward did not practice because of the injury. Stefanski said Ward was "day to day," but wouldn't say anything about his status for the Sept. 7 season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals other than he "should be" fine. Buy Cleveland Browns tickets
Ward suffered the injury during one-on-one drills when was going against wide receiver Jerry Jeudy and fell on the shoulder.
