Five of the state's eight football classes have unanimous No. 1 teams in the Week 1 USA Today Florida Network high school poll.

Defending state champions Venice (Class 7A), West Boca (6A), St. Thomas Aquinas (5A), Miami Northwestern (3A) and Chaminade-Madonna (1A) received all 12 first-place votes in their classes.

The other three classes, well, that's a much different story.

Madison County and Hawthrone are tied for No. 1 in the Rural Classification. The Cowboys and Hornets have met in the state championship game three of the past four seasons. Madison County beat Hawthorne 21-14 for the title in 2024.
