A Taylorsville man won $100,000 from a $20 scratch-off ticket that he bought at a gas station.
Paul Watts claimed his winnings at the N.C. Education Lottery headquarters on Friday, Aug 15., according to a news release from the N.C. Education Lottery.
After the required state and federal tax withholdings, Watts took home $71,756, the release said,
Watts won the money from a Power 20s ticket he purchases at the Daytona gas station on N.C. Highway 90 East in Taylorsville, the release said.
The Power 20s game debuted in October 2023 with four $2 million top prizes and eight $100,000 prizes. Three $2 million prizes and four $100,000 prizes remain in play, the release said.
Alexander County received $5.4 million from money raised by the lottery to help with school renovations.
