Mentoring program provides school supplies in Matteson

About 50 families in need received school supplies this month thanks to a shopping trip by Matteson School District 162 administrators supported by the Making Disciples Boys Mentoring Program.

The south suburban organization has partnered with the school district for the past six years, this year giving $3,000 for everything from backpacks to notebooks to earbuds.

Matteson School District 162 director of special education Jaime Goodley and assistant director Rebecca Dixon shopped for supplies with Eric Bassette, who founded Making Disciples with his wife, Annette, in 2015. Bassette also bought items for two families shopping at WalMart that afternoon.
