A COUNTRY star has revealed why he had to suddenly cancel a show at the Grand Ole Opry.

The singing legend, 87, was due to take to the stage at the iconic Tennessee venue last weekend, but had to pull out after a "freak accident".

Bill Anderson, who is the longest-serving member of the Opry, was originally scheduled to perform on Saturday, but then suddenly cancelled.

He was part of an all-star line that included T. Graham Brown, Jordan Davis, Kylie Morgan, Monte Warden, Don Schlitz, Wyatt Ellis and the Opry Square Dancers.

However, fans were left concerned when it was announced Bill could no longer perform.

The country music singer has now revealed the reason why he was no show.
