COLUMBUS, Ohio — State Rep. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) announced early Thursday morning she is running for Ohio Secretary of State.

I have felt for a long time and continue to feel that the Secretary of State is the most important, other than the governor, statewide office because fundamentally its job is to ensure that the vote happens and that people have access to the ballot," Russo told 10TV in an interview about her decision to run.

Russo served for three and half years as Ohio House minority leader before stepping down from the role at the end of June.
