AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A man has been arrested in the shooting death of a 3-year-old boy on Wednesday.

According to Richmond County jail bookings, 32-year-old Carl B. Gant III is charged with murder, three counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and more.

The shooting happened in the early hours of Wednesday morning on the 1100 block of New Savannah Road.

During the shooting, 3-year-old Bryson Murray was fatally shot. A 40-year-old woman was also injured.

Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen identified the child as Bryson Murray. An autopsy will be scheduled.

Four neighbors told News 12 the wounded woman was the child’s mother.
