AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A 2023 aggravated assault suspect from Augusta was arrested in South Carolina, according to authorities.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says Jaquan Lewis, 20, was wanted in connection to an aggravated assault case in 2023.

According to the incident report, on Feb. 21, 2023, deputies responded to 1631 Gordon Highway, Southgate Plaza in reference to a shooting.

Child killed, woman injured in shooting on New Savannah Road

A 3-year-old was killed and a woman was injured in a shooting in Augusta early Wednesday morning.

Deputies located a male victim who was having trouble breathing due to a gunshot wound to his chest area.

While on scene, deputies found 9mm shell casings.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for his injuries.
