TRAVELERS REST, S.C. —

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fire at Mountain View Memorial Park in Travelers Rest as arson.

Authorities said they responded to the park on Wednesday for a fire that was intentionally set within the mausoleum.

The fire damaged multiple memorial markers and a granite statue, resulting in more than $20,000 in repairs, the sheriff's office said.

"A careless and disrespectful act not only affected the memorial but all family members associated with the mausoleum," the sheriff's office said on Facebook.

An active investigation is underway, and investigators are asking for the public's help.
