Jeff Blashill was root, root, rooting for the home team at Wrigley Field on Wednesday, throwing out the first pitch before the Chicago Cubs game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The new Chicago Blackhawks head coach visited the friendly confines and threw a pretty solid first pitch to the Cubs mascot, Clark.
Blashill is coming into his first season at the helm with the Blackhawks, which went 25-46-11 last year and has missed the playoffs for five straight seasons. The team announced his hiring on May 22.
Blashill was an assistant with the Tampa Bay Lightning the past three seasons and previously coached the Detroit Red Wings for seven seasons from 2015-22.
He'll dive headfirst into the new season with training camp coming up in a few weeks, but until then it looks like Blashill is maki
