Military history will come to life this fall at a new event on the Petrolia Discovery oil heritage site.

Military History in Action, Oct. 4 at the Discovery site in Petrolia, is expected to include First World War demonstrations, including cavalry, as well as displays by local heritage groups and activities for local cadets.

The Chatham-Kent based Great Canadian War Society approached the Discovery about hosting the event as fundraiser for the site, said Liz Welsh, chairperson of the foundation that runs the Discovery.

The society, founded in 1997, has been part of historical demonstrations, including an event in 2024 held at the Oil Museum of Canada.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, is the rain date.
