Vernon Kay was overwhelmed with emotion this morning, revealing to his fans that he couldn't "stop crying" after seeing his daughter Amber's GCSE results. The 51-year-old joined countless parents across the country in celebrating their children's achievements after a "week of anxiety".

Before starting his show, Vernon's colleague at BBC Radio 2, Scott Mills, checked in to see if he was feeling like a "proud dad" on such a significant day, reports the Mirror . Vernon couldn't contain his excitement as he banged on his desk and joyfully proclaimed: "I'm a proud dad!".

He went on to say: "I can't stop crying Scott, I seriously can't stop crying. It's GCSE results day today and we've done alright."
