OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Authorities say 15 sex offenders were arrested in the Omaha metro during a law enforcement operation conducted early Thursday.

FBI Omaha said in social media video posts Thursday that federal and state warrants were served to those individuals at 15 separate locations. An FBI agent in the video said those arrested had failed to update their sex offender registration.

The early morning sweep was part of Operation Summer Heat , “a nationwide operation designed to surge resources and work with our partners to take major violent offenders off the street,” the agent says on the video.
