OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A man who left his child in a car while he was in Douglas County court for a probation violation hearing has been sentenced.
Ahmed Izzadin, 33, entered a plea of guilty in April to the charge of committing child abuse negligently, resulting in no injury. That charge is a misdemeanor.
The charge is a downgrade from the initial charge of committing child abuse intentionally, resulting in no injury.
Izzadin was sentenced to 200 days in jail with zero credit for time served.
Izzadin was arrested at the courthouse last August for violating probation. After he was taken to jail, a bystander spotted a 2-year-old child alone in Izzadin’s car at the courthouse.
Izzadin never told deputies he’d left a child in his car, according to authorities.
