VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — While Hurricane Erin's impacts are not expected to be severe in Virginia Beach, Mayor Bobby Dyer says the Resort City is ready and prepared.

In an interview with ABC News, Dyer said the city has been preparing for over a week and taking safety precautions as necessary. City officials watched as the communities on the Outer Banks issued mandatory evacuations for residents and tourists earlier this week.

"We are a coastal resort community, and we're always ready for this," Dyer said in a Wednesday evening interview.
