DENVER (KDVR) — The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is investigating after a man reported that he found human remains on his property.
On Thursday, CBI announced in a press release that on Monday, Aug. 18, a resident in Costilla County contacted the 12th Judicial District Attorney's Office after he discovered human remains on his property.
The next day, CBI and the DA's Office sent investigators to the property located in the Wild Horse Mesa neighborhood and confirmed the report made by the man.
A K-9 unit was brought in to assist in searching the area for remains and help with recovery efforts.
The remains have not been identified yet, and investigators are working to determine the circumstances of the person's death.
This is an active and ongoing investigation, CBI said.
