Dear Care and Feeding,

I run a small daycare out of my home. Recently my sister “Abby” needed me to watch her 6-year-old son “Leo”—her mother-in-law had broken her wrist in a fall, and Abby needed to go stay with her until her sister-in-law could come and take over for her. I agreed to it without a second thought.

As it turned out, however, Leo had lice. I had to break the news to all the parents whose children I care for and go through the process of de-lousing my home and my own family.
