MERCER, Pa. - West Nile Virus has been detected in a sample of mosquitoes collected from Mercer Borough.
This is the 10th mosquito sample to test positive for the virus in Mercer County in 2025. Additional monitoring will be done in the area where the samples were collected, and appropriate control work will be conducted based on the number and types of mosquitoes found.
Currently, no human cases of West Nile Virus have been reported in the county.
Most people to not develop symptoms, but others may experience fever, body aches, nausea, vomiting and a rash. Severe illnesses can occur in people of any age, but people age 60 and over are at a greater risk.
