Braves third baseman Austin Riley underwent season-ending surgery on his core, the club announced Thursday. The operation was performed by Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia, and the club expects Riley to return for Spring Training in 2026.

Riley strained his lower abdomen while diving to tag Elly De La Cruz in the first inning of Atlanta's 4-2 victory over the Reds in this month's Speedway Classic game at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Riley, who will turn 29 next April, hit .260 with 16 homers, 20 doubles and 54 RBIs this year. The two-time All-Star averaged more than 159 games per season from 2021-23 but was limited to 110 games last year and 102 this season.
