BELLEVILLE, Ill. (First Alert 4) - A suspect is in custody after a woman was killed in a hit-and-run on Thursday morning in Belleville.

The 33-year-old woman was hit by a vehicle on Greenmount Road near Route 15. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police said the vehicle that hit the woman drove off, but a suspect was in custody on Thursday afternoon.

No information was immediately available.
