Chattanooga Police have cleared the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga after a report of an active shooter locked down college and city government buildings for more than an hour Aug. 21.

A 911 call about an active shooter with a rifle on campus came into Hamilton County dispatch at about 12:29 p.m. eastern time.

The school and city buildings were placed on lockdown as dozens of police, fire and rescue teams from multiple agencies flooded the area.

" Run. Hide. Fight ," the university posted on X, announcing the possible threat at either the college's library or university center.

By 1 p.m., the campus was given the "all clear" and the lockdown was lifted after a thorough search.
