MCCOOK LAKE, S.D. (KTIV) - Preliminary water testing on McCook Lake shows E. coli has been found in low levels. Five water samples were taken throughout the lake by state officials. One of them came back positive, and that was found near the swim beach at the Izaak Walton League, by the water pump at the end of the lake.
The McCook Lake Association says there is no cause for alarm.
“We were just looking for a preliminary indication,” said Dirk Lohry of the McCook Lake Association. “And actually, the indication looked pretty good. Four of the five samples were below what they would call the average limit.”
