ASBURY PARK, N.J. (PIX11) -- It's not a typical day at the beach in August because of Hurricane Erin.
Lifeguards are keeping people out of the water along the Jersey shore.
The Asbury Park boardwalk is a popular summertime destination. But on Thursday, people wore jackets and sweatshirts.
Rip currents and high surf swirled around the shoreline. Caution tape blocked off the steps to the sand.
Charlie is enjoying the view and thinking about the power of the weather.
"It could’ve been a lot worse. I’m glad it’s limited to just a gloomy day," he said.
Coastal flood warnings are in effect from Monmouth to Cape May Counties.
Lifeguards expect restrictions to continue to be in place on Friday.
