JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - A Colorado Parks and Wildlife ranger is facing felony charges after law enforcement says a stabbing investigation at Staunton State Park last week that prompted a multi-agency response and manhunt was found to be “an elaborate hoax.”

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, 26-year-old Callum Heskett, a seasonal ranger at Staunton, radioed for help at around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday claiming he’d been attacked and stabbed. He told officials his alleged attacker fled on foot and gave first responders a suspect description.
