PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for the greater Portland area from Friday morning to Sunday evening, and local officials have shared lists of places people can go to cool down.

For direct help and to find cooling resources, people can call 211 or visit 211info.org/summer-and-heat-related-resources/ .

According to the Oregon Department of Emergency Management, the 211 contact center will be open for extended hours starting at noon on Friday and remain open 24/7 until the end of the heat event.
