DES MOINES CO., Iowa (KWQC) - The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation identified a man in a fatal officer-involved shooting in Des Moines County.

The department said 46-year-old David Maupin was killed in the shooting after a Des Moines County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a domestic incident on Aug. 5, according to a media release on Thursday.

Officials said while Maupin and the deputy were talking, he became uncooperative and got out a gun.

The deputy then shot Maupin, officials said.

Maupin was treated for gunshot injuries but later died. The deputy was unhurt.

The deputy has been placed on critical incident leave during the ongoing investigation. The department has not named the deputy.
