Is Cam Smith in danger of demotion? Astros writer offers his take

When the Houston Astros dealt star outfielder Kyle Tucker this past offseason, they received multiple players from the Chicago Cubs in return. The Astros added to their roster an All-Star third baseman in Isaac Paredes, as well as a back-of-the-rotation starter in Hayden Wesneski.

But the crown jewel of the return package was outfielder Cam Smith, who was previously the Cubs' top prospect and made the Astros' Opening Day roster out of spring training.

Most first-year rookies experience a slump at some point in the season as they adjust to playing in the big leagues. In Smith's case, that skid is now approaching its second full month.

Could a brief stint in the minor leagues bring Smith into form?
