NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - Charleston Southern University welcomed students back to campus Thursday, with nearly 1,400 expected to move in this week.

CSU is expected to have one of its largest enrollment years yet, with an estimated 2,300 full-time undergraduates to be on campus. The Christian university draws in students from across the country, they will see over a thousand new students.

"I chose it here for the faith, more opportunity, more experience, and further away from home," said Ryleigh Hughes, a transfer student.

However, they also attract students nearby such as from Limestone University, which closed last year due to lack of funding.
