NEENAH, Wis. (WBAY) - There are many different kinds of bandages on the market, but a Neenah company is making a first-of-its-kind

It’s called a carbon bandage, and in testing, it can last for multiple days while saving patients money from doctors’ visits.

For Neenah biotech entrepreneur Ashwinraj Karthikeyan, he made it his mission to make a change in the healthcare industry.

“That’s when I started seriously thinking, you know, we can create something that can actually help people,” says Karthikeyan.

It all starts with a piece of wood. That’s then put in a kiln and burned, in a process called carbonization.

It’s then activated with steam at 18,000 degrees in a machine, which can also be used to clean the environment in something called the “three green process”.

It’s 100% renewable
