CROWN POINT — A Gary man has once again evaded prosecution in another violent crime after prosecutors decided to dismiss the charges two months after he was issued a life sentence in a separate federal case.
Prior to a hearing scheduled Thursday, prosecutors filed and were granted a motion to dismiss charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery and battery by means of a deadly weapon against Devonte Hodge, 32, more than eight years after the case was initially filed. A deputy prosecutor wrote that the victim in the case was consulted prior to the charges being dismissed.
