CROWN POINT — A Crown Point man was driving at more than twice the legal limit when he crashed into a woman's car earlier this year, leaving her with physical wounds and a traumatic brain injury, court records allege.
Cody Fields, 27, was charged Wednesday with two felony counts of causing serious bodily injury when operating a vehicle while intoxicated, two misdemeanor counts of operating while intoxicated and reckless driving, court records show.
Fields was in a silver Ford SUV Feb. 1 when he struck a gray Kia SUV in the 2100 block of West 169th Avenue in Lowell, which forced the Kia off the road into a nearby field. A blood sample taken from Fields the night of the crash showed his blood alcohol content level was 0.21%, according to a probable cause affidavit.
