GARDEN CITY, Kan. (KSNW) — Garden City Community College will give its Construction Technology students real-world job experience this fall by putting them to work on a local housing development.
Through a partnership with Germann Homes Inc., second-year students will help build houses at Prairieview Acres, a 32-lot project in Finney County. The work will include framing, roof trusses, and other structural tasks.
College leaders said in a news release the initiative is aimed at preparing students for the workforce while addressing the region’s shortage of skilled labor.
“Experiential learning is critical to preparing our students for success in high-demand fields,” GCCC President Ryan Ruda said in the release.
